HK 4.6×30mm, FN 5.7×28mm, and.30 Carbine. Lineup of common calibers 5.7×28mm, 7.92×24mm, and 9×19mm. 5.7×28mm cartridges with a lighter. As I mentioned the data between the 4.6×30 and the 5.7×28 is very similar, to the point where I’d call them virtual ballistic twins. Given that, there is no question why NATO and most of it’s member countries came to the conclusion that the 5.7x28mm was a more viable candidate to replace the 9x19mm.
This is to explore hype vs. 5.7x28mm Ballistics. Be aware that not all published 5.7x28mm ballistics are necessarily equal. In fact, you need to take ANY advertised figures with a big ‘ole grain of salt. Here’s why: Ammunition manufacturers don’t always advertise what their test weapon was. As it happens, 5.7mm is also made for.
Enjoy a fun, and only marginally scientific, comparison between the 5.7x28mm and 9mm. This video is full of shooting footage between the FN Five-seveN, and H.
